May your troubles be as few and as far between as my grandmother’s teeth. Irish Proverb
Book Description from Amazon
Feisty wedding photographer Hannah McDermott has dealt with her share of difficult brides. But none can compare to the ultimate Bridezilla she’s dealing with now. Still, she’s trying desperately to impress Bella Neeley, Galveston Island’s most sought-after wedding planner, so she can take the top spot in Bella’s list of recommended photographers–a spot currently occupied by her arch-rival, Drew Kincaid. What she doesn’t count on, however, is falling head over heels for the competition.
What I Thought
It was wonderful to see the cast of Italians from Fools Rush In join with the new Irish characters in this novel. It was interesting to see how one man, raised immersed in his family’s culture, reacted to the blending of cultures. While sometimes it didn’t feel quite authentic, it was overall a great addition to the story.
While many romances are more evenly centered on the two people who will eventually come together, this book focused almost completely on Hannah. Occasionally I would miss learning more about Drew and what he was thinking, but it was clear that Hannah had a lot of growing to do before she would be ready to marry. Some who read the book felt that she was too whiny or too concerned with the thoughts of others. However, I found her attitudes, the battle she waged within herself, and her journey out of it quite realistic.
I loved the old Irish wisdom, proverbs, and blessings within the book, and more than once I giggled at the situations Hannah found herself in. And I may never forget the wonderful Splendora sisters and some of their biblical phrases.
The Bottom Line – 4 stars
I enjoyed this light-hearted story and appreciated the spiritual and emotional growth of Hannah. If you enjoy contemporary romance with a mix of humor and romance and are looking for an easy read, I highly recommend this book.
