I have skeletons

Skeletons in My Closet

I have skeletons. I don't specifically talk about a lot of them, but it's not because they are hidden away in the proverbial closet. When God brings a lady to me that would benefit from hearing part of my story, I openly share those moments when life sucker punched me or I chose to act in a way that wasn't God's best. This is not something that came easily to me, and truthfully I still hesitate before I confess my failures and shortcomings. No one likes to look foolish. None of us wants to be thought of as less than. And I certainly don't jump at the chance to admit how out of control I sometimes get. So, what is the point of sharing? And how can we do so in a manner that glorifies God even when the choices we made do not?
We won!

The Crossing Series RELAUNCH!

Back in early October, I made two big announcements: I was starting my own publishing company. I was reclaiming the rights to my Crossing series. Several of you patiently waited while my assistant and I waded into the publishing waters. We had some battles to win, fights with computers over formatting issues and such. But we won! The ENTIRE Crossing Series is NOW Available!
This is BIG!

Immeasurable Works [This is Big!]

If you've been hanging around my Facebook page any, you may have seen a poster about a new adventure. Several have asked what I'm doing. Well, today I let you in on the secret. I'm going hybrid! Some of you familiar with the publishing world know what I mean by that, but I'm guessing a lot of my readers don't. So let me elaborate. It all started years ago ... (don't worry! The story's not too long.)
Healing after Trauma

Truth in a Troubled World

Crossing, Oregon, population 725. The town square consists of a diner, ice cream shop, newspaper, General Store and Micah’s Hardware. The people are friendly, drive older cars, and live life slowly. And it exists only in my head. Growing up I loved Cinderella. She was sweet, cheerful, and caring. Prince Charming was so captivated in one evening with her that he turned a city on its head looking for her. When evil entered the story, it was subdued and the champions of good lived happily ever after. This mindset colors my world. It’s not that I’ve lived a charmed life. Like Cinderella, I’ve experienced pain, loss, and hardship.
Impossible Things

Accomplishing the Impossible

Can you imagine accomplishing incredible things? Tackling the impossible, and succeeding? The Lord is with you, mighty warrior. Yeah, I'm talking to you. I want you to stop for a moment and consider how deeply you believe in incredible things? Not just me doing them, but you. This question is so important that it was one of the themes in my second fiction book, Ryan's Crossing. Can you imagine yourself accomplishing incredible things?
secret to forgiveness

The Secret of Forgiveness

“I don’t need to ask for your forgiveness because I didn’t do anything wrong.”

What irritated me most about that statement was the fact that the man who said it to me had he never bothered to asknever even bothered to ask what the problem was. He knew I was angry with him. I don’t hide anger well anyway, but by his actions and his words over the previous couple of weeks, I knew he knew.

Yet when I’d finally calmed down enough that I thought we could have a conversation about it, that is what he said to me. Let’s just say that his statement didn’t go over well. My mind was furious; my heart was deeply hurt.

For months I stewed, talking to God and asking for clarity.… Want to read more?

Thinking about Love and Romance

I was in my Cinderella dress. I'd just walked the aisle, married Prince Charming, and a beautiful coach and white horse waited to take us home. The day had been perfect.
Who did I think I was?

Why Not You?

In January 2012, my publisher released my first book, Crossing Values. I sat, uncertain. Would anyone buy it? Once they bought it, would they read it? If they read it, would they recommend it to others? Or read my second book? What was I thinking releasing a book? Who did I think I was?

Romance God’s Way

I wrote this post two years ago for another website just before Romancing Melody: A Crossing Journey released. Yet its truth about romance hasn’t changed. Romance is bigger than most of us consider it to be.

Romance is lavishing love on anotherTis the season for romance: long-stemmed roses and fancy dinners, boxes of chocolate and nights on the town. Truth be told, I’ve always been a simple girl.

To me, one rose of the right color is even more perfect than a dozen roses in an expensive vase because one rose conveys three things: 1) my husband thought of me and took time to stop to buy something for me, 2) he cares enough to remember and look for a rose in my favorite color, and 3) he knows me well enough to comprehend that while I’ll enjoy the rose immensely, I will also be thinking of the financial cost to our checkbook.Want to read more?
