Don’t Look. See.

I recently came across this quote by Henry Thoreau, an American poet and naturalist.

Have you ever thought about this? I suppose it could be summed up in the eternal argument between the pessimist and the optimist:

You could see the busy city street where no one looks at anyone else.
Or you could see the beautiful flowers someone takes time to care about.

Apply it more personally. What do you see as you look at your life today? Right now?

Do you see the clouds?
Or the rain within them that brings life?

Do you think of the friend who hasn’t called?
Or the ways you could reach out to a friend you haven’t talked to in awhile?

Do you see the scar and remember the pain?
Or do you see God who brought you through it and wants to do something good from it?

It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.
