What comes to mind when you see this title: Driven by Eternity. How much thought do you give to what happens to you after your body dies? And how much does Scripture say about heaven and hell?

You might be surprised. . . .

Jesus discussed hell frequently. . . . He saw it as essential to reaching us as the Good Shepherd. ~John Bevere, Driven by Eternity

Description from GoodReads: Driven by Eternity: Make Your Life Count Today and Forever

What will your eternity look like?

What if you learned you were part of an experiment where the next 24 hours would determine the quality of the rest of your life? Everything from the job you hold to the neighborhood and house you live in will be tied to how you navigate a single day. How would you approach those 24 hours? Would you be intentional, or would you leave things to chance and hope for the best?

This idea might seem far-fetched, but it isn’t. In fact, it closely resembles how your choices today will impact your destiny forever.

In Driven by Eternity, best-selling author John Bevere uses an eye-opening allegory and extensive Scripture to paint a vivid picture of the way our earthly lives shape our eternal existence.

Life beyond the final breath is much more than a destination. Don t wait until it’s too late. Discover now how you can make your life count both today and forever.

What I Thought

Who will enter into the kingdom of heaven? Jesus answers by saying, “Only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21b NIV). ~John Bevere, Driven by Eternity

In every book I’ve read by John Bevere (or his wife Lisa, for that matter), he never holds any punches. Seriously, his books are not for the reader who likes to hide her head in the sand, and this book is classic John Bevere. I’m not sure how many of his books I’ve now read, but I enjoy him because he speaks truth with equal portions of passion and compassion. He strives to fully explain himself, breaking complex subjects into understandable pieces. And he always backs up what he says with Scripture.

This book included a charming and effective allegory to help explain his points, which drew me in and didn’t let go. It helped me think through what he wanted to convey and made the lessons stick in my heart and mind as only fiction can. I desired to know what happened to the characters and was anxious to read more about the author’s reasoning for the outcomes each received.

The story and the prose worked together to pound home the general message. Eternity approaches, and what we do right now matters. It is easy to get lost in the day-to-day grind, forget who we are when tragedy hits, and feel like the end will never come. But what’s important is worth the fight to maintain our focus.

The Bottom Line – 5 stars

You cannot be too committed to the will of God. ~John Bevere, Driven by Eternity

The overall message of this book is powerful and critical, and too many Christians fail to give it adequate thought. As Mr. Bevere wrote, “Those who are wise in the kingdom realize we are not working to provide a future in retirement years. We are preparing for eternity!”
