If you receive my newsletter, then you probably already know this, but I am one of the newest teachers with SchoolhouseTeachers.com, a division of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine! And in August, I will be starting a fiction writing class for Middle and High School students!

If you are interested, here’s what you need to know:

The course will be called Creative Writing and designed for Middle and High Schoolers. Older Elementary students that have a love for writing may do fine with it.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND: The focus of this course is solely on creative writing, NOT grammar, punctuation, or spelling. And, I teach that while it is important to know the rules, in fiction writing it is acceptable to occasionally break the rules. As teacher, you need to keep that in mind.

The course will provide six-month’s of lessons each designed to take your student minimal time per week. Yes, I want to nurture a love for writing and teach the kids what the current trends in publishing are, but I do not want to stress them with needless homework.

The monthly topics will be broken down into three-to-four weekly lessons each month. Since this first session will go through Thanksgiving and Christmas, I will combine November and December into one five-lesson month. This will allow you the flexibility to complete it as best fits into your holiday schedule.

My email address will be available with the lessons so you can send me questions that come up. And, the email address will remain archived with the lessons, so if you repeat this course several months from now with another child, you still have easy access to me.

The entire course is included with your membership to SchoolhouseTeacher.com. If you are not currently a member, the cost is $3 for the first month and $12.95 per month after that. This includes access to more than 80 courses, with more options being added every year!

Yes, SchoolhouseTeachers.com is primarily designed for the homeschooling community. But, any parent that would like to become a member and download the classes are welcome!

Other classes you can choose from include:
French, Spanish, or Hands On Hebrew
Violin, Guitar, or Music Theory
Geology, Chemistry, or Physics
Art Techniques or Studio Art for Teens
Statistics, Trigonometry, or Economics
Social Justice or Mock Trial
Public Speaking,

And so much more!
